New Young Pony Club is an electro-punk new-wave band from the U.K. The band invokes the feel of Bow Wow Wow meets the Ting Tings with their grungy 80′s post-punk synths and upbeat indie rock jams.
Their first new single in quite a long time, off their upcoming album The Optimist (to be released Feb./Mar. 2010), is called “Lost A Girl.” You can preview the song on their official Web site here now and it will be available for digital download on December 14th!

Here at Electrocutie, we like to put a big pink spotlight on the newest and brightest up-and-coming or current electro, new-wave, and synth-pop talents. Sometimes, however, you just have to appreciate the great music from the past!
In which case, meet Strawberry Switchblade, one of the coolest and visually intriguing new-wave bands from the 80′s. Bananarama meets Siouxsie & the Banshees in their dreamy synth-pop new-wave songs. Though usually referred to as a one-hit wonder of the 80′s, the sweet, gauzy music of this unfortunately short-lived girl group is far more enduring then their short career together.
Check out their video for “Since Yesterday,” one of their biggest hits, below – circa 1985.
They’ve long disbanded, but you can still look them up on Youtube and buy their albums on Amazon here!
La Roux is the deliciously dancey new-wave band from the UK that has been making waves all this year with their self-titled debut album, ‘La Roux,’ and the 80′s influenced, melodic synth-pop hits contained within it.
Here is the music video for “Quicksand,” one of their older singles which was recently re-released to the charts and radio again. Enjoy below!

Gorgeous Norwegian pop star Annie recently released her second studio album, ‘Don’t Stop,’ over the past two months in the UK, Norway, and the US. The album boasts 12 fabulous tracks of throbbing electro-disco dance-pop, led by the hit lead singles “My Love Is Better” and “Songs Remind Me Of You.” If you like pulsing dance-pop in the same vein as Little Boots or Madonna’s ‘Confessions on a Dancefloor’ album, you will LOVE Annie!
